The protagonist of the story named John Riggs is an ordinary bank clerk. One day he loses a significant amount of money and remains indebted to the winner.
To find the means to repay the debt, he will have to visit many not the most pleasant places in the city and take part in some events that will leave an imprint on the soul of the character. The whole story is told in the form of diary entries, but the player can influence the course of the plot by performing certain actions.
