You must defend a single, winding route that stretches from a haunted gate to the lantern itself.
Every decision matters because you have a limited resource called ash. You must decide whether to spend your ash on new defensive towers or invest in powerful upgrades for existing structures. One poor investment can leave your light exposed and vulnerable during the next siege, leading to a game over.
The game features 100 increasingly difficult stages spread across 10 distinct cursed regions. You will encounter a variety of enemies including ghosts, skeletons, vampires, banshees, revenants, and necromancers. To combat these threats, you can utilize five distinct tower types that use embers, frost, poison, area bombs, and chain lightning.
Each tower can be leveled up, and you must make lasting upgrade choices after every stage to optimize your defense strategy. Additionally, every tenth stage introduces an Ash Warden with special abilities, adding another layer of complexity to your tactical planning. Last Lantern also includes three active powers that can turn the tide of battle: Lantern Burst, Time Frost, and Ash Harvest.
These abilities provide crucial support when the enemy horde becomes overwhelming.
