The core mechanic is simple yet deeply engaging: you must build walls to contain a spreading pond. Each turn, the water expands into every adjacent hexagon that remains unprotected.
Your goal is to place wall pieces strategically to cut off the water's path and save the houses on the island. This is not a game of reflexes but of careful planning and spatial reasoning. At the start of every turn, you are dealt exactly three wall pieces, which typically include singles and pairs, or occasionally a three-hex piece.
These pieces arrive in a fixed orientation, meaning the specific shape you receive is an integral part of the puzzle's challenge. You simply drag these pieces onto the honeycomb grid to build permanent, watertight barriers. Your hand acts as your budget; once you place your pieces, the turn ends automatically with no need to press a confirm button.
This streamlined design keeps the gameplay fluid and intuitive. The island features various hazards that add complexity to your strategy. Fissures are marked hexes that crack and turn into water after one turn, forcing you to enclose them completely before they flood.
Ice blocks water like rock but depletes a number each turn, eventually turning to water and creating a visible deadline.
