This War of Mine is a unique and poignant war survival game that tells the story of ordinary civilians trying to survive in a besieged city. Unlike traditional war games that focus on soldiers on the front lines, this title shifts the perspective to those left behind, enduring the harsh realities of conflict from the comfort of their shelter. The narrative follows three distinct characters: Bruno, a former television chef; Katerina, an energetic provincial reporter; and Pavlo, a famous football player.
These diverse individuals, who previously lived separate lives, are now forced to rely on each other to stay alive. The gameplay centers around managing a dilapidated building that serves as your group's refuge. You must explore every room to gather essential resources and uncover hidden items.
By clicking on interactive icons, such as a hand symbol, you can open cabinets and drawers to find vital supplies. These resources range from medicinal herbs used to craft healing potions and cigarettes to keys that unlock new areas of the shelter. Water is crucial for preparing food, and wooden planks can be used to build a fireplace for warmth during cold nights.
Managing your survivors requires strategic planning and time management. Each character has their own skills and needs, and assigning tasks to them takes time to complete. You can distribute specific duties to each key person to optimize efficiency.
