Tacho is a precise GPS speedometer application designed for drivers, cyclists, runners, and scooter enthusiasts who require accurate real-time speed tracking. The app displays your current speed in large, easy-to-read digits, making it ideal for quick glances while on the move. It supports multiple units of measurement, including kilometers per hour, miles per hour, and knots, which can be switched with a single tap to suit your preference.
One of the main advantages of Tacho is its full autonomy. The application works without an internet connection, relying solely on your phone's GPS module for data. It updates speed data every second, ensuring that the indicator smoothly reflects changes from walking speed to highway velocities.
The interface adapts to both portrait and landscape orientations, keeping the screen active during your journey for uninterrupted monitoring. The standout feature is the Head-Up Display (HUD) mode, which projects speed in large digits on a black background with high contrast. You can place your phone on the dashboard facing the rearview mirror, allowing the reflection to appear correctly on the windshield.
Text color options include green, orange, blue, and white, providing visibility in both daylight and nighttime conditions. Tacho records various metrics such as odometer readings, maximum speed, distance traveled, time on the road, and average speed. It includes a history feature that logs these details for each trip.
